Iphigene Ochs Sulzburger became the trustee of The New York Times after her dad Adolph S. Ochs, the owner, passed away in 1935. Ochs Sulzburger was the director of the Times Company from 1917 to 1973. During WWII, she assisted the war effort by created Times-printed supplements and books for schools. She also served as president and later chair of the Park Association, helping to restore a park in the Bronx and arranging for a chess and checkers house in Central Park.
