Helen M. Marshall was a member of the New York State Assembly for eight years, and a member of the New York City Council for ten years. She was later elected as the 18th Borough President of Queens from 2002-2014, where she made marketing Queens as a tourist destination a priority. She also planned for health care, education, housing, and new park project. Marshall was re-elected for three terms as a Borough President.
