Brie Larson

1989 - Today

Date Added:

Brie Larson is an American actress, director, and singer born on October 1, 1989, in Sacramento, California who was home-schooled before she studied acting at the American Conservatory Theater. When she is not having Oscar-winning performances or playing the first female-lead superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she uses her platform to promote gender equality, extinction of sexual assault, and racial diversity. She is a member of a social welfare organization called “TIME’S UP”, that works for “safe, fair and dignified work for women of all kinds.” As a member, she incorporated an inclusion rider to her contracts that requires cast and crew on the film to meet a certain level of diversity. She also showed her support against sexual assault when she presented an Oscar to Casey Affleck, but notoriously didn’t clap for him because of the allegations surrounding him saying that he sexually assaulted two woman. A following quote Larson said herself about being an activist: “ "I'd put it all on the line and be an activist for the rest of my life because it doesn't feel right to me to be quiet.” Sources From: About TIMES’S UP WTW Staff, Brie Larson: Captain Marvel is a mediation on ‘intersectional feminism’ and ‘female strength’ Jamie, Graham, Brie Larson: Grit and Grace
