Mary Jo white has served as the Chair of the United States Securities and Exchange commission and served as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Jane's practices include counseling those in the Board of Directors and she represents clients on sensitive matters such as cases for companies that are facing crisis. She is also a well known private practitioner for high-profile matters. Mary Jo Jane was recognized by The Legal 500 US (2018). Before she had joined the firm in 2017, she was serving in the Chair of SEC. By president Obama, she was nominated and she was one of the longest-serving chairs. She had done many other tasks under her position, such as creating protections for investors and the markets where they addressed some rule makings which brought up the issues which were raised by the financial crisis and this had created a framework for future regulation for the asset management industry. Prior to joining SEC in 2013, Ms. White was the Chair of Debevoise's Litigation Department, what she practiced their was internal investigation and defended companies and individuals who were accused by the government of involvement in white collar corporate crime or SEC. Mary was an attorney for the Southern District of New York for 9 years from 1993 to 2002, she was the only women who held the top position for more than 200-year history of that office. Mary had also served as the first chairperson of Attorney General Janet Reno's Advisory Committee of U.S. Attorneys from all over the country. From 1983 to 1990, Mary jo was a litigation Partner at Debevoise, her focus included white collar defense work, SEC enforcement matters and commercial and professional civil litigation. Mary Jo also was the Chief Appellate Attorney of the Criminal Division and from 1978 to 1981, was the assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York. Mary had graduated from William & Mary, Phi Beta Kappa and had a B.A., where she received it from The New School of Social research and received her M.A. in Psychology, and went to Columbia Law School with a J.D., and was an officer of the Law Review.
