Sahle-Work Zewde is an diplomat, she is the 4th and current president of Ethiopia, she win the first woman to hold office there. Zewde was elected by the Federal Parliamentary Assembly on October 25, 2018. Sahle becoming the first president had raised people's hopes for gender equality in Ethiopia. Zewde was approved by the Ethiopian parliament on Thursday and had replaced Mulatu Teshome, who had resigned unexpectedly. Zewde was born in the capital Addis Ababa, and she had attended a University in France. After graduation, she served as the Ethiopa's ambassador to France, Djibouti, Senegal and also Intergovernmental Authority on Development. Zewde was also the UN's top official at the AU. Zewde is also efficient in three langauges such as English, French, Amharic which is Ethiopia's working language. Prime minister Abiy Ahmed who was in office in April was one of the many who had appointed numerous women in influential position, which were traditionally made for men. In her swearing in the ceremony she mentioned that she is going to raise the issue of female empowerment in her six-year term.
