Maria Cruz is the director of Digital Marketing, she considers herself to be actively involved in immigration affairs and in civic technology. Claiming that "that is the intersection of my career" as a native of the Philippines and growing up under the martial law she knew she had to work hard. she was in school full time while juggling two digital advertising internships. Her life changed when she had her college mentor introduce her to his sister, the new New York City commissioner of immigration affairs who wanted a social media intern. The commissioner, Fatima Shama was the one who changed her life, she gave her the opportunity to help further political offices, organizations, and campaigns. She currently networks about 100 social media manager from across CUNY. As a person of color she wants to help fellow immigrant New Yorkers. She is set to receive a masters degree in public administration in 2020.
