Petra Kelly called "Jeanne d'Arc of the nuclear age" was the founder of the Green Party and the international environmental and political movement. During the 70s and 80s she was its leading spokesperson. She grew up in the United States where she was influenced by civil rights and antiwar movements. Disarmament and antinuclear power movement became her political focus. Keely was passionate and spoke up against the threat that posed the industrial deterioration of the environment. In 1983 the Green Party received over 2 million votes and Kelly entered the German Parliament.
