Lisette Camilo

Date Added:

Lisette Camilo was appointed Commissioner of the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services in 2016. Prior to her appointment, Commissioner Camilo served as the Director and Chief Procurement Officer of the Mayor's Office of Contract Services (MOCS), where she ensured Mayoral agencies' compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to the City's procurement of billions of dollars of goods and services. She also served as MOCS' Deputy General Counsel from 2012 to 2014 and Special Counsel from 2011 to 2012. Before joining the Mayor's Office, Commissioner Camilo practiced law in City Council and for UNITE HERE Local 100. In an interview for "Voices of New York" by the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, Commissioner Camilo discussed leadership stating: "I never allowed myself to be swayed by other people’s doubts, I never allowed myself to move away because something was difficult. If things are difficult, you need to at least try. This is one of the traits of women who get to high places; they don’t allow others to put barriers in their path, and if you stumble, you have to get up and keep going. You can’t give up hope or lose focus because of a failure."
