Muna Luqman

By: Kam Singh | Date Added:

Muna Luqman is a Yemeni peace activist and advocate for human rights. According to Luqman, the main reason she chose to become an activist was because of all of the "violations that are causing suffering." Luqman is the co-founder of the Women's Solidarity Network, Chairperson of the Yemeni foundation Food for Humanity and member of the Women’s Alliance for Security Leadership. Muna works with grassroots organizations in Yemen and with the Yemeni diaspora to demand women have a seat at the peace negotiations table. She lives in Egypt, having had to flee Yemen in 2016 due to unsafe living conditions (bombings, airstrikes, etc.) A large part of Luqman's career involves social work in the areas of health care, water projects, and demining. With the Women in Solidarity Network, Luqman and other activists, encourages women to participate in peace and security efforts. Luqman's efforts towards activism have led her to receive the International Young Women's Peace and Human rights Award.
